Hit the ground...walking

Stumbled into the Sanctuary about five minutes ago. Have the "I've Got a Dream" song from Rapunzel in my head. Because of course I do. Sometimes, if I'm paying attention (hardly ever), my song loop pertains to my moment.

Tuesdays are rough for me. Have an intensive therapy that leaves me exhausted and not functioning as normal.
In bed on and off since one yesterday afternoon. Still not enough sleep to fit in a thimble.

No rest for the wicked.

Book 7 of the Plot Twist series came to me. Dialogue, plot, and all the goodness. Except, I didn't have the werewithal to jot anything down. Relying on my memory right now.
Going to open OneNote and start a notebook for it.

Still editing Ace. I love the story. Absolutely love it. And he's such a good foil for LA.

Readers bought books 1 and 2 of my Plot Twist series last Saturday. It was "The Morrigan"s actual release day. A reader asked me how long I expected the series to be. At least a dozen, was my answer. And likely, more than that. It IS hard because it's not a stand-alone. It's an arc. You've got to meet LA in the beginning to appreciate the character and her snail-like growth.

Still sitting in this chair like a shrimp. Still roasting my ass off in his fucking state. But, it's back to work as long as I can sit in this chair.

The last revision

I remember English teachers passing out a printed piece of paper with a skeleton slumped forward at their desk, and it simply stated "final revision" at the bottom. You know, like an old-school meme.

As I continue my writing journey, I can tell I've improved. FFS. I hope so. And when I received my rights back to books I wrote twenty years ago, I knew they'd need an edit, even though they were edited by a professional editor at the time.
I was not wrong.
That's not the issue. More than happy to tweak and whatnot.
My problem, because I'm almost done with book 5, and I'm twitchy as shit...is that I want to go back and edit the first three books in a paranormal romance I wrote about a decade ago. It's a five-piece series, and I've written 3. The others are safe, ?, in my head. I know what's going to happen. I simply haven't had the oomph to deal with them. Because my ADHD brain is going batshit over my Plot Twist series. So, there's that.

This is the hardest part for me. Whenever I'm near the end of a book, I'll immediately start looking for that next hit of dopamine. Did I start on book 6? BAHAHAHAHAHA
Fuck yes, I did. Am I eyeballing old works to edit? Ditto.

But...lucky for me, I didn't sleep worth shit last night. Who forgot their nocturnal medicinal cocktail? Yeah. This heifer. It was a rough one.

I've decided today is about making reels. Plot Twist series reels.
Let's hope my creativity is awake.

Apollo and Hyacinthus

"Apollo and Hyacinthus."
First book in my Plot Twist series.
Available June 1, 2026.
****
Forty-year-old LA Bennett lives alone on her rural acreage, determined to keep the world at bay after her mother’s death years earlier. That isolation ends when Hyacinthus, an ancient Spartan prince, appears in her driveway, drawing LA into the investigation of a centuries-old murder rooted in myth. To survive the chaos, and herself, LA must uncover the truth behind the crime she never asked to inherit.
****
Set against a deceptively ordinary town filled with disguised gods, fates, and legends, the story follows LA as she is forced out of isolation and into purpose. Each visitor reveals not only their own pain, but fragments of LA herself—her power, her past, and her responsibility. As myths from Greek traditions expand to include Nordic, Egyptian, Celtic, and Asian beings, LA must decide whether she can continue hiding from who she is, or finally step into her destiny—even if it means she can never return to the quiet life she craves.

There's no bigger excitement than a new release

I love what I do. Editing still sucks all the butt, but I enjoy the rest. Even banging my head on the keyboard occasionally when creating book covers. It's exhilarating. Kind of like giving birth, but over a period of a month or two, not a day or two. With no drugs. No doctor. You're free-balling this bitch.
But that's part of the magic.
You.
You created something no one else did. You brought a story into existence with only your mind. It's sounds all Science Fictiony when you break it down. And yes, there are growing pains. Bad-tempered characters. Bad-tempered you. Hardships. (Now I want to quote Labyrinth again.) But you did it.
You. Fucking. Did. It.

I used to take three or so days to bask, wallow?, in my finished works. But there's no time for that these days. I usually finish one book and start another, or continue with one, immediately. It's shifting gears but in a different car.
And I love the view.

Are there days I turn the air blue with all my aggravation? Of course. Murphy would agree. Are there days I laugh aloud at what I've written? Yep. Have I made myself cry? Well, fuck. I have. But it's all part of the process, and writers need to embrace every bit of it.

It's magical and maddening in the same second. Exhilarating and exhausting.
And I will do this until I draw my last breath.

I've set my release schedule for my Plot Twist series.

Apollo and Hyacinthus   JUNE 2026
The Morrigan   AUGUST 2026
Ace   OCTOBER 2026
Macaria   DECEMBER 2026
The Gordons  FEBRUARY 2027

The first four are finished, and I'm a third of the way through The Gordons.
I'd like to squeeze in at least one or two erotic and maybe a contemporary romance, but we'll see.
OH!

And, I can't remember if I already posted this or not, but you can order through me, autographed and I pay shipping, through my Beventi Order Form.
Prices are listed, but I'll run deals several times a year for followers.
Thanks!
